Introduction: Casuarina Ridge Marvel, affectionately known as ‘Marvin’, is a much-loved, beautifully educated pony who has been the ultimate partner for junior and pony club riders. Standing at 14.1hh, this Part Welsh x Arab gelding offers an exceptional temperament, proven performance record and genuine versatility. Marvin is the definition of a schoolmaster pony and has taught children to ride safely and confidently while also achieving impressive competitive results. This is a very sad sale as he has been outgrown, and finding the right home is the absolute priority.

Education, skills and experience: Marvin is extremely well educated and has a wealth of experience across dressage, showing, pony club and interschool. He has competed successfully at Pony Club Dressage and progressed through to State level, with placings at Interschool State Championships and qualification for Interschool Nationals, where he also competed. He has numerous wins and placings in the Pony Club show ring and is a reliable, consistent and genuine performer.

Dressage/ Showing: Marvin has a solid and correct dressage education. He is soft and light in the bridle, willingly collects and puts in as much effort as asked of him. He adapts beautifully to the confidence and competence of his rider — safe and steady for novice riders, yet capable of stepping up and producing quality work with a more experienced rider. He presents beautifully for showing and is accustomed to competitive environments.

General demeanor under saddle: Marvin is willing, responsive and kind to ride. He is generally calm and reliable (even happy to take part in archery practice!) though not completely unflappable - he may occasionally be looky in new situations. He reacts to unbalanced riders or mixed signals in an understandable way, making him an excellent teacher for developing correct position and aids. He is forward without being silly and is very forgiving overall. He has no vices or quirks.

Current workload/ fitness: Marvin is currently in light work and ridden one to two times per week. He does not require regular riding to remain safe and reliable. After a long spell, he benefits from a brief lunge to help him settle and stretch before being ridden.

Handling and general behaviour: Marvin is extremely easy to handle and manage. He is easy to catch, well mannered on the ground, leads calmly, ties up happily and loads and travels quietly. He is easy to wash, clip, good for the vet and farrier, and is safe around children. He is only floated in an angle load float. He does not tolerate leg straps around his back legs on rugs; this is easily managed by using a single back strap, and appropriate rugs are included in the sale.

Feeding and management: Marvin is straightforward to feed and manage. He is currently fed a balanced diet including chaff, pellets, bran, sunflower seeds, linseed and hay. He can be kept on his own or in a variety of management setups and is comfortable being stabled or paddocked, including busy environments. Like most horses, he may take a short time to settle into a new environment, and his current owners are very happy to provide comprehensive support during this transition.

Medical history: Marvin requires front shoes with pads due to bruising from hard ground and coarse arena surfaces. This is well managed and does not affect his performance. He is up to date with dental work (August 2025), vaccinated for Strangles, and has past vet checks available. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Tack and inclusions: Marvin is light and happy in a snaffle bit. He will be sold with his bridle and snaffle bit, a saddle pad with shims, and a full set of rugs (winter and summer).

Rider Suitability: Novice Rider and above, defined as someone who has been riding regularly for at least a year and requires an impeccably well-behaved, established schoolmaster pony. Marvin would suit child riders through to petite adults.

Reason for sale: Very sad sale as Marvin has been outgrown by his rider.

Ideal home: A loving home seeking a true unicorn pony to adore, ride and spend time with. He thrives on attention and connection and would not suit a home where he is rarely visited or ridden. Marvin is suitable for lower level jumping with a child but due to age, we will not sell to a home that focuses on this or anything over 60cm.
