Eventing Showjumping Warmblood Gelding

Clarkefield Victoria, Australia

Talented Warmblood Gelding – 16.1hh – 14 years old
Highfield Don Winter.
Meet Winter— the handsome, talented gelding who’s been places… just not as many places as he could have, thanks to Covid.

🏆 Competition Record:
 • Evented to 1★ and showjumped to 1.20m with previous owner.
 • Low mileage for his age — pandemic restrictions meant more paddock time than truck time. (When we vetted him in 2023 the vet said best joints she had seen! )

✨ What He’s Been Up To (Last 2 Years):
With his current rider, he’s done Pony Club, Interschools, clinics, EA Eventing, and Jump Squad, building a strong, versatile resume.

2024/2025 Highlights:
 • 🥇 Interschool State Championships 1.05– 1st place
 • 🥇 Gisborne Showjumping C Grade (95–1m) – 1st place
 • 🥇 VEIS Riddells Creek Showjumping 1.05– 1st place
 • 🥈 ISJ Showjumping Boneo 1.05– 2nd place
 • 4th – Riddells Creek Easter HT 95
 • 5th – Haytesbury HT EA95
 • 7th – Melbourne 3DE One Round Stakes (1.20m joker – the fancy dress crazy one)
 • Multiple additional VEIS Series placings across the season
• 8th FOW 2025 Ea95 - Double Clear.

💎 What He Offers:
 • Stunning, elastic movement on the flat — the kind that makes you look and feel like a dressage star.
 • Amazing movement in general, but he can get a little distracted in a busy dressage test environment. (The trot gets bigger! Better with a more experienced rider)
 • Brave and bold over a fence — genuine point-and-shoot type, with the scope to get you out of trouble if you see the wrong stride.
 • Extremely bold and brave on cross country — eats up the fences and locks on without hesitation.
 • Winter has a 17ft stride and covers the ground with ease, yet can turn and jump on a dime when the course demands it.
 • Definitely ready to step up to 1★ again and higher with the right person.
 • Push button with the right rider — give him clear, confident aids and he’ll give you his all.

⚠️ Vices / Quirks:
 • Mild windsucker — controlled with a collar.
 • Can be a bit nappy on an off day or if he’s convinced the float is the best place to be — confident rider and a little persuasion required. He is a performance horse after all, and as George Morris says, “the best can require management.”

💡 The Honest Bit:
He’s smart, talented, and willing, but he likes a rider who knows their stuff. Would suit a competition rider/family who know how to manage a performance horse and want an experienced, competitive partner. When he likes you he will give you the world 🌍
