I have owned Polly for over a year and have put a lot of time and effort into her, particularly working on her trust, confidence and relationship with her rider both on the ground and under saddle.

Polly is the type of pony who really needs her own person. Once she trusts you, she is an absolute pleasure to have around and will happily stand all day being groomed, fussed over and loved. She thrives when someone takes the time to build a genuine relationship with her. She honestly loves just feeling included and loved.

She has had all sorts of riders throughout her time with me, across different ages and riding abilities. She is more “woah” than “go” and can be cold-backed, so I always lunge her for around 5 minutes before riding. This routine works well for her and is something I would like a new owner to continue.

Over the time I’ve had Polly, one of the things we really wanted to show her was that she doesn’t always have to have her head down, going around in circles and working as a full-time show pony. We’ve spent time letting her just enjoy herself, have fun and learn that riding can be about more than the show ring.

In doing this, we discovered that Polly absolutely loves to jump. She really enjoys having a change of scenery and being able to get out and do something different. She is happiest when she gets to have fun and feel like she has a job she enjoys, rather than being expected to constantly work as a show pony.

I would love for her next person to continue giving her that variety. Whether that’s going to shows, jumping, getting out and about, or simply spending an afternoon grooming her. She doesn’t need to be a full time show pony to be happy, she just needs someone who wants to have fun with her and continue building that partnership.

Polly has an impressive show record and has proven herself extremely capable in the ring. She has the potential to go a long way with someone wanting to take her further, whether that be continuing her show career or producing her into something special.

She could also suit a capable child with an experienced family/support person who wants a pony they can get out and about with, attend shows and continue building a partnership with. She is not a push-button pony and will require someone willing to understand her and continue the work that has already been put into her.

Polly is a quality medium show hunter pony with plenty of potential still ahead of her. She has already achieved so much, and I genuinely believe she could continue to do so with the right person.

She is easy to maintain, only 2 biscuits of hay in winter and once a day in summer. She loves attention and wants to be loved. The relationship you build with her is everything.

There is absolutely no rush to get Polly sold. Finding her the right home and, most importantly, finding Polly her person is my priority.

This is through no fault of her own. I originally purchased Polly as a pony to work with, build up and help along in her confidence, and I am very proud of how far she has come. I already have two competition horses, so unfortunately I simply don’t have the time to give Polly the individual attention she deserves while also campaigning my other horses in eventing.

I would much rather wait for the right person and the right home than send her somewhere simply because someone is willing to pay the asking price. She has been a big part of my life over the past year and I want her next home to be one where she will be loved, appreciated and given every opportunity to succeed. ❤️
