LANI | 8yo Friesian x Gypsy Cob | 14.2hh | Black

Vincentia NSW, Australia

A striking mare with beautiful movement, an intelligent mind and the potential to become something very special in the right hands.

Lani is an 8-year-old, approximately 14.2hh black Friesian x Gypsy Cob mare. She is an exceptionally eye-catching mare with beautiful movement, presence and a lovely quality about her.

She is smart, trainable and willing to learn, and has been given a comprehensive groundwork education, including training through a range of groundwork movements and exercises.

🖤 HER EDUCATION

Lani was started under saddle in 2022 and has had professional instruction, including regular lessons with my instructor.

She has had limited outings, including some trail rides and an endurance ride, giving her exposure to riding outside of a familiar arena environment.

It is important to be completely transparent about where Lani is currently at in her ridden education.

She has not been ridden consistently for approximately two years and has not been ridden at all during the past 12 months. She is currently out of work and in paddock condition. She is not a beginner's horse. She requires an experienced rider to bring her back into work.

As a result, she should be considered green and requiring a restart under saddle, rather than a horse that can simply be pulled out of the paddock and ridden straight away.

This is not a reflection of her ability or previous foundation. She simply has not had the consistent ridden work required to progress her education.

For the right experienced horse person, this provides an opportunity to take the time to re-establish her ridden fitness, refresh her education and develop the qualities that are already there.

🖤 GROUNDWORK & FLOATING

Lani has an excellent groundwork foundation and is intelligent and responsive when working with her handler.

She floats well in a straight-load float, however, needs to travel on the right-hand side only, which is important for prospective buyers to know.

🌿 IMPORTANT — QUEENSLAND ITCH

Lani does suffer from significant Queensland itch and this must be taken seriously by her future owner.

Her symptoms affect her mane, tail, face and udder area, particularly during the warmer months. Her mane is currently hogged as this helps with her itch.

She requires a committed management regime, including stabling through spring/summer, comprehensive rugging and diligent fly/itch management.

She is not a horse that can simply live out 24/7 through the warmer months.

Because increased stabling is required during these periods, her owner will also need to be prepared to manage stable boredom through appropriate enrichment, exercise and interaction.

I am being completely upfront about this because finding Lani the right home is more important than finding a quick sale.

Lani is not a finished horse, not currently in work and not being represented as bombproof.

She is an intelligent, beautifully bred mare with lovely movement and a solid foundation who now needs an experienced owner with the time, patience and consistency to bring her back into work and continue her education.

She will not suit everyone, particularly due to her Queensland itch management requirements and current lack of ridden fitness. However, for the right person, she represents an opportunity to take a quality, eye-catching mare and develop her into their own horse from the ground up.

Currently barefoot but will need shoes when brought back into work.

Experienced, knowledgeable homes only.
