Akaroa Tia Maria is a 13yo 16hh Percheron x TB x SH x QH mare. She is seriously the easiest horse to have around, she adores her humans, carrots and love. Tia has showjumped competitively to 1m, evented 95cm, established at novice dressage.

Tia has established laterals and is more woah than go on the flat, however switches on and is forward when the pace is set. She’s a beyond honest ride around a showjumping course and can kick it up a few gears in a jump off. She’s a cracking ride cross country, rarely hesitating at anything – she just loves her job. We have sworn we would never sell her, but unfortunately with her daughter coming on and property not getting bigger, we have decided that it is time to see her make another person’s dreams come true.

She attended Scone horse trials at the end of 2025 and added just one rail to her dressage score and finished on her dressage score (and in 5th!) at the March Tamworth horse trials. She also placed 5th in the 90cm showjumping at Kiama show in February.

She had minimal jump schooling before each of these outings and is the ultimate low maintenance partner in crime. At Kiama show we were parked on the Main Street of the town and I felt confident taking her by myself and leaving her at the float between classes. I have not had a horse that is more uncomplicated to take out.

Tia has been in our family since she was 7 years old and produced brilliantly by my mother. She is as flash and as fun as they come. She has won over many hearts with her honest attitude and ground covering canter. Tia has had one foal for us by Highland Blue Diamond who has inherited her intelligent and willing attitude.

She gets ridden out on trails alone and in groups. She is the same to ride when in work or when bought in after time off. Tia self-loads onto floats, hops onto the truck with no fuss, and ties up beautifully. She can get a little worked up on her way back from the arena at a show but is not a dirty horse, bucker, rearer or bolter.

Tia is a quiet mare at her core but due to her big powerful strides she is suited to a confident amateur/junior rider who wants a serious and fun partner in any performance discipline.

Upon radiography Tia does have arthritic changes in her hocks that are consistent with a 13yo draft horse x. She is sound and in full work on 4cyte and has not received pentosan/steriod injections - we have not had any issues with soundness.
