This colt is a well-handled young colt with a friendly, inquisitive nature and plenty of character.
He is great to catch, halter, lead, groom, rug, pick up feet, and he stands hard tied quietly for extended periods.
He float loads easily and travels well, be it with others or by himself.
Has had basic groundwork including yielding hindquarters and shoulders, backing, some lateral work (side pass), and can go around in a lunge pattern at a walk, trot, knowing voice commands and will slow on a “steady” and stop on a “whoa”.
Although his training has been inconsistent due to my physical health and preparing young stock, the foundation is there when I pull him out for a quick refresher, so he will benefit from a more established routine.
He has nice movement with a smooth canter, a good stop in the paddock, and carries himself well.
Slightly sensitive when learning new things but processes them well and is improving as he matures and with consistency.
He’s ok for the farrier with no nasty behaviour, bit still a bit unsure, and will continue to improve with regular trims and a patient handler.
He is low in the pecking order within a herd, and he’s not colty in behaviour; has been paddocked with both fillies and mares and shown no interest yet. He does have two palpable stones so he’s able to be gelded.
He has a small cosmetic scar on his face from a fencing incident as a foal, but it’s fully healed and does not affect him (as shown in photos).
He is being offered through no fault of his own, along with a few others, because I need to downsize ahead of an unexpected major surgery which requires a lengthy recovery and strict physical restrictions.
I have plenty more photos and videos available.
