FOR SALE — TEDDY
6yo gelding | Approx. 15.3hh
If you’re looking for a tall, dark and handsome horse who feels safe, steady and easy to enjoy, Teddy may be exactly what you’ve been hoping to find.
He is a kind, quiet and people-oriented horse looking for a genuine long-term home where he will be loved and appreciated.
Teddy has a friendly, engaging nature and enjoys being around people. In the paddock he sits at the bottom of the pecking order and is wonderfully easygoing. Under saddle he is much more whoa than go. If unsure, he simply stops. No buck, bolt or rear.
He is straightforward to handle and uncomplicated to live with - easy to load, float, worm and pick up feet. He also has a fondness for sugar cubes, red frogs and liquorice.
Importantly, Teddy is sensible if life gets busy. He can be left for weeks - even months - and still be safe to get on and ride.
Experience
Regular Pony Club mount - sensible in open XC areas and happy riding in groups
Completed a Horse Trials and in-club dressage day with junior rider (Grades 4 & 3)
Completed Pony Club combined training and dressage jackpot with me (Grades 4 & 5)
Regular HRCAV attendance focusing on flatwork
Schooled over Grade 2 cross-country fences
Enjoys poles clinics
Most content trail riding, plodding on a loose rein, or enjoying relaxed farm life
Regularly schools alone without horses for company
Who He Will Suit Best
Teddy is ideal for someone wanting a safe, steady pleasure horse to enjoy. While he has athletic ability, his real strength is his calm and sensible nature.
He would suit:
An adult rider wanting confidence and enjoyment
A teen stepping up to their first big horse
A busy rider who needs reliability
A mother-daughter share
A family horse
He is not being sold as a high-level competition prospect — he is being offered as a genuinely lovely horse to ride, relax with and enjoy.
Background & Management
Teddy is an Off-The-Track Thoroughbred. He came to us straight from the racing stables and within five days was being ridden bareback by my 13-year-old daughter - while still on full racing feed -which says a great deal about his temperament.
Old injury slightly restricting right hind movement — causes no pain and does not affect jumping, but unlikely suited to a dressage home
Barefoot with us
Teeth done January
Never been sick
Well behaved in the paddock and not a rug wrecker
Reason for Sale
A genuine and difficult decision. Teddy and I are simply on different paths - I want to pursue dressage - and my children already have their own horses. He deserves to be someone’s special partner and focus.
Teddy is a safe, kind and handsome young gelding with an easy way about him. If you want a horse you can simply enjoy, he is ready to meet you.
Serious enquiries only - the right home matters most. Price slightly negotiable to the perfect partner.
