Talented WB/TB Showjumper or Allrounder

Little Dude

8 year old (Dec 2017)/16h/Warmblood x Thoroughbred

Registration: EA

Location: Pullenvale, Brisbane, QLD

Videos of Little Dude are linked below on YouTube.

Dude is a blingy grey with an amazing temperament and athletic build.  He has experience competing in SJ up to 1m with lots of scope and EVA 65.  He really is an allrounder and the ‘easy’ horse in the paddock. Dude is currently only in light work (ridden 2-3 times/week) and his price reflects this.

Pedigree

Bred by Illourie Performance Horses (IPH).  Sire is IPH Lightening Strikes (WB) jumping up to 1.35m, and his dam is a TB mare.

He is bred to jump, so he is bold, athletic and genuine and has the ability to progress into higher levels with the right rider.

Temperament

Dude by name and a dude by nature.  Dude is a chill horse that is always willing.  He has a trainable character, is easy to handle with no dirt and he isn't phased by big atmospheres or busy warm up rings.  Currently ridden by a junior rider and can ride out on trails by himself or with other horses.

Performance

Dude’s is our showjumping ribbon winner.  He is speedy but not too forward.  He can turn on a dime. As his rider’s focus has been SJ, Dude has only competed in cross country twice in EVA 65cm, but has schooled higher.  He loves xc and is great with water!  Dude will do anything asked of him but he doesn’t love endless flatwork, circles and dressage.  He needs a bit more leg to keep him motivated in dressage, whereas he will happily jump all day.

Dude has competed in EA, interschool and pony club showjumping (easily qualifying for multiple state championships), and he has also dabbled in eventing and combined training.  Dude and his rider have received regular professional coaching by Gemma Creighton-Buchanan. Dude has been ridden in creeks and at the beach.

Why we love him

Dude is a super enjoyable horse to own and train.  He is a trying type that loves his job and has scope to jump bigger tracks with a competitive rider.  He is for sale as his junior rider is in his final years at school and has sadly lost interest in competing – no fault of the horse at all.  Dude is easy to float, shoe, worm.

What you might not like, but shouldn’t put you off

Dude has a couple of cosmetic blemishes.  He has a dent in his neck where he was bitten as a foal and he has some cosmetic scarring on his near hind leg (cannon).  Neither affect his performance.
