Introduction:

If you are looking for a genuine eventing schoolmaster who can help a junior or amateur learn the ropes, build confidence - all while being competitive - Tanoshi is a very appealing option. He is a well-educated Thoroughbred schoolmaster with proven consistency at 80–95cm eventing and placings up to 1*.

With his kind nature, correct education and reliable competition record, Tanoshi offers a genuine pathway for a rider wanting to enjoy eventing, gain experience and progress with a horse who knows his job. He presents as an enjoyable AND sensible option for a family or amateur looking for an educated, forgiving and competitive partner.

Education, skills and experience:

Tanoshi is a true all-rounder with a strong focus on eventing. He has placed at 1* and regularly finishes in the top placings at 80–95cm. His record reflects his education, temperament and experience - a combination that allows a rider to succeed without struggles and drama.

Beyond the competition arena, Tanoshi is confident with working equitation-style obstacles, and has extensive exposure to farm life, busy roads, fireworks and dogs. His practical everyday exposure and 'life skills', make him a truly reliable, well-rounded schoolmaster type.

General demeanour under saddle:

Under saddle, Tanoshi is soft and light in the bridle, willingly collects, and is tolerant of rider mistakes. He adapts to his rider’s confidence and competence, making him suitable for beginners under instruction through to more experienced riders. He is generally calm and reliable, and has been noted as bold and forgiving if the rider makes an error.

Tanoshi is the type of horse who can help a rider feel safe enough to learn, while still offering the education and ability to be competitive. He is not a high-powered upper-level prospect; he is a genuine, confidence-building partner for riders wanting experience, miles and enjoyment around around EVA80-95 level.

Current workload / fitness:

Tanoshi is in work, ridden three or more times per week, and is currently competing.

Handling:

On the ground, Tanoshi is unflappable and easy to manage day-to-day. He is easy to catch, groom, saddle, wash and clip. Tanoshi is reliable for the farrier and straightforward for the vet. He is happy in a float or truck - loads super easily, travels calmly and unloads sensibly.

Feeding and management:

Tanoshi lives in a paddock, is fed hay morning and night, and has a hard feed in the evening. He has been managed in a herd and on his own. with a companion in sight. Tanoshi is happy to be stabled/paddock on a 12/12 routine as needed. He has been stabled in a busy city environment for competitions.

Medical history:

Please see Owner's Response Certificate - in Tanoshi's portfolio - for xrays and reports. His owner gives him supplements as part of her routine performance horse management. Tanoshi is up to date with dental and vaccinated for Tetanus and Strangles, with vaccinations recorded in February 2026.

Rider Suitability:

Tanoshi suits a broad range of riders, from beginners under instruction through to juniors and amateurs, wanting a genuine schoolmaster to learn on and enjoy. He is an excellent fit for riders seeking a kind, educated partner for dressage/showing, showjumping, eventing, working equitation, Pony Club or Adult Riding Club activities.

He would be a particularly useful choice for a rider wanting to build confidence, gain competition experience and enjoy competing on a horse who understands and enjoys their job.

Reason for sale:

Tanoshi is very reluctantly for sale because although he is a lovely, quiet and competitive horse around EVA80-95 is owner wants to compete at the upper star levels.
