The Hunter Valley Quarter Horse Association Inc (HVQHA) are holding an “A” Quarter Horse show this Sunday, 5 February from 9.00am at the Allandale Twin Arenas, Cessnock. The judge will be Kim Wearn and there is a full programme on offer including Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Paint and Paint Bred halter plus showmanship, lungeline, led trail, hunter in hand, hack, hunter under saddle, hunt seat equitation, leadline, western pleasure, horsemanship, trail, western riding and reining. ... Germany’s Marco Kutscher steered Cornet Obolensky to victory in the tenth qualifying leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping Western European League 2011/2012 series at Zurich in Switzerland this afternoon. The 13 year old stallion produced an exhibition of effortless jumping to outclass the rest of the 40-strong field on a tough day that saw six riders opting to retire in the opening round. ... Julie Davey and Air Hill Myka added a nice title to their trophy cabinet in winning the Horse Grand Prix crown at the Larsen Sawmilling North Island Championships in Gisborne yesterday. The Hawke’s Bay combination just sneaked home ahead of Lisa Coupe (Hawke’s Bay) aboard My Ocean Wave. It was a small field that started the star class of the show. Briar Burnett-Grant showed herself as one to watch for the future in winning the FEI Children’s International Showjumping on the second day of the Larsen Sawmilling North Island Showjumping Championships in Gisborne today (Saturday). Blackall Park Stud suffered a tragic start to 2012, with their influential stallion, Daley K, passing away from a heart attack on new year's day. “A very sad day at Blackall Park today. Daley K suffered a heart attack at 6.pm this evening and died almost instantly. He would have been 28 years old on the 15th of January. ...
