Last weekend saw the start to the eventing season kick off with a bang at Wallaby Hill Horse Trials, in Robertson, NSW. The new Ewan Kellett designed 2** course caused a few upsets for a couple of riders; but otherwise rode well. Maurice Beatson made the most of home-ground advantage with an easy win in the horse grand prix at the Dannevirke A&P Show today. Aboard his lovely big grey Schimmel Warrior, Beatson was three seconds clear of second placed Lucy Akers (Palmerston North) and Cortaflex Tinapai. Twelve started the class with three going through to the jump-off.
