Introduction:
Deja Vu, affectionately known as Duck, is a 6yo, 17.1hh Warmblood gelding professionally produced by Grand Prix rider and trainer Gordon Pratt. With size, presence, quality education and an established foundation, Duck presents as a very appealing dressage or show prospect for a capable rider wanting a big, impressive horse to continue producing through the grades.
Education, skills and experience:
Deja Vu has been in professional training with Gordon Pratt and is currently working at Elementary/Medium level. He has established lateral work and is ready to commence flying changes. He has competition experience, including Preliminary scores over 68% at SIEC - both indoors and outside - and is described as having an established level of education for his age.
General demeanour under saddle:
Under saddle, Deja Vu is willing and responsive, soft and light in the bridle, and generally calm and reliable. He goes best ridden from leg to hand and appreciates a rider with a consistent, sympathetic contact. If the rider becomes hand-dominant or gives mixed signals, he may toss his head or pause; however, he is never nasty and remains straightforward for a balanced, tactful rider.
Current workload / fitness:
Deja Vu is in regular work five or more times per week and is currently competing. He does not need very regular riding to remain reliable and safe.
Handling:
On the ground, Deja Vu is easy and polite. He is easy to catch, leads and ties calmly, is reliable for the farrier and vet, and is uncomplicated to wash. He self-loads, travels quietly and unloads calmly at the other end. He is not bothered by farm life, including tractors, trucks, motorbikes and livestock, and is comfortable around children in his vicinity.
Feeding and management:
Deja Vu is currently in a large grassy paddock and has also been stabled overnight. He is content in either arrangement and can be paddocked on his own. He is on hard feed with chaff and oaten hay.
Medical history:
Deja Vu is shod and previously flat feet have been corrected with current farriery. Past X-rays from February 2025 are available, and buyers are welcome to complete their own vet check. He is up to date with dental and vaccinations - both done July 2026.
Rider Suitability:
Deja Vu is best suited to a capable, confident rider — amateur, young rider or experienced junior — who rides from leg to hand and enjoys producing a quality horse through the dressage levels or in the show ring.
Reason for sale:
Genuine sale due to the owner’s full-time work commitments and two other horses in work.
