‘Red’
Red offers 3 even and correct paces, with ground cover, swing and suppleness.
Reds character is friendly and energetic. He enjoys work and having something to do as well as generally being around people and being attended to.
He is a quick learner and willing however sharp and not a straight forward kind of character. Red can be a spooky horse and has a sharp mind, which is why an extensive amount of time has been spent training him in aspects of body control, coordination, suppleness and relaxation both on the ground and under saddle.
Due to a number of different reasons and interruptions he has not been competed, however has regularly been taken off the property for training purposes.
Unfortunately and somewhat inconveniently Red struggles to travel in a straight load float. He self loads and hasn’t had any bad experiences when travelling, however I think he would be best suited in a home who uses an angle load or truck.
I see Red suiting an experienced rider, who is not turned off by taking a chance on a slightly older horse and one that is not yet proven in the competition space, however, in recognising his ability, see him as worth the time and effort.
He has been cared for and ridden in a way that promotes longevity, with his soundness never missing a beat.
I have owned this horse since he was a yearling so can provide a full background of information.
As a young horse, I had plans to campaign him in Eventing, which is where the majority of my riding focus lies. With interruptions over the years however, this never eventuated and then with the loss of his off side eye 2 years ago, made cross country an unsafe discipline for him, in my opinion.
The small amount I had jumped Red I believed he showed a great natural scope, bascule and hind end action, so I do not rule out his ability in the show jumping space, potentially, however I think with the loss of his eye, a life in dressage would be much better suited.
The decision to sell Red though has ultimately been one based on financial and time pressures.
A capable and knowledge home will be of the utmost importance to me.
It is my hope that an advanced rider will see value in his natural ability and basic fundamentals which I have instilled and not be deterred by his lack of competition exposure or age, still wanting to produce him through the levels.
Currently in work 4/5 days per week.
Vet check welcome.
