Introduction: Icarus Celtic Frost - aka Steve - is a quality 16hh, 11yo ISH gelding with a lovely presence, established flatwork and the versatility to suit a capable rider wanting a polished all-rounder. He is well suited to dressage, showing, low-level jumping, PC/ARC activities and trail riding. He enjoys attention and is an educated, kind horse that would be a valuable asset to a capable junior or adult rider.

Education, skills and experience: Steve is very well educated on the flat and produces a lovely willing and accurate Novice dressage test with the talent to progress further in this area. He is light in the hand, responsive to aids and willingly collects, with smooth transitions.

Steve is a scopey and super careful showjumper. He is 'point and shoot' up to 90cm, keeps the rails up and will win you the fuel money to get home! However, as we all know, careful horses need an accurate and confident ride over 90cm. Being 'careful' rather than naturally 'brave' means that Steve needs an experienced and confident rider cross country, to give him confidence in this phase.

Steve has has been ridden bareback and can be lunged, if required. He is confident out and about, has been trail ridden, and is not worried by busy roads, farm life, including tractors, trucks, motorbikes and livestock, or dogs.

General demeanour under saddle: Under saddle, Steve is willing and responsive, with a soft feel in the bridle. He is ridden in a mullen mouth snaffle bit. He is generally non-reactive unless something major occurs. He is best with a balanced rider who gives clear aids. At times, he can be a little quirky under saddle - please see Owner's Response Certificate for more information - but is always safe.

Current workload / fitness: Steve is in light work and ridden 1–2 times per week.

Handling: Steve is friendly, people-oriented and can be a bit of a character - “in your face” in a an inquisitive and kind way. He loves playing with a big bouncy ball, pulling zippers up and down and pulling scrunchies out or taking hats of people's head. He is a 'Steve'!

Steve leads calmly, ties up quietly, and is easy to wash and clip. He self-loads and travels well, stands quietly on the truck or float and unloads calmly. He is good for the vet and reliable for the farrier. He is currently shod.

Feeding and management: Steve is fed twice daily on chaff, concentrates and fibre with salt. He can live in a herd or on his own. He does not have any known medical issues. He is vaccinated and his dental was last done in November 2025. A past pre-purchase vet report and X-rays from October 2024 are available. New vet checks are welcomed - at the buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability: Steve is a well educated and capable horse, as such, he is not suited to beginners or nervous riders. He would suit a confident novice plus rider for dressage and trail riding; a confident and capable rider to showjump up to 90cm; a confident and experienced rider with an accurate 'eye' at 1m plus; and a very confident and very experienced rider for eventing. With the right rider and routine, he offers a lovely combination of education, presence and versatility.

Reason for sale: Steve is sadly for sale due to the owner's reducing numbers - his rider is focusing on school and higher-level eventing.
