Introduction: KTL Icon is an impressive 7-year-old Australian Warmblood gelding standing at 17hh, combining size, presence and a kind, trainable nature. By Yalambi’s Incognito out of the imported mare Sling Shot, Icon offers established education and genuine versatility across showjumping and dressage. He has been produced with care and given time to mature. He is now ready for a capable rider and home to continue his development.
Education, skills and experience: Icon has an established level of education and is well schooled on the flat and over fences. He has been exposed to a wide range of environments and activities, including trail riding and low-level cross country schooling, and is sensible and confident in new situations. He is safe for novices under instruction and is currently in consistent work, ridden five or more times per week.
Icon is soft and light in the bridle and willingly puts in as much effort as asked of him. He has a correct foundation and shows promise in dressage - with flying changes and laterals established. Due to his size and stage of development, he does need to be ridden correctly to achieve consistent collection and contact. However, he is tolerant of rider mistakes and continues to improve each ride. Icon has competed in Preliminary and Novice dressage and scored up to 8's for his movement.
Showjumping: Icon has competed successfully in showjumping. He is currently training 1.15m and ready to step up to 1.10m with plenty of scope to continue up the heights. He has also been jumped at home by novice and smaller riders who have found him very straightforward.
Icon is super brave, doesn't care about fill and is forgiving - he will tackle any jump even with a miss - of which he's had plenty! He has never had a stop! Icon is adjustable, light in the bridge and responsive. These attributes give his rider LOADS of confidence around a course.
General demeanor under saddle: Icon is generally calm, reliable and willing to work. He is tolerant of rider mistakes and is not worried about ‘atmosphere’.
Current workload/ fitness: Icon is currently in work five or more days per week. He does not require constant riding to remain safe and reliable but benefits from consistent work and management.
Handling and general behaviour: Icon is very easy to handle. He is easy to catch, well mannered on the ground, leads calmly, ties up happily and loads and travels extremely well. He is easy to clip, wash, and is reliable for the farrier and vet. He is tolerant of handler mistakes and is straightforward to manage in busy environments.
When fresh, particularly if overfed, underworked and something major happens - Icon can be reactive - however, these behaviours are not malicious and are prevented with appropriate feeding and regular work. Please see owner’s response document for more information.
Feeding and management: Icon is a good doer and feed sensitive. His diet is carefully managed depending on workload and pasture availability. He often requires little to no hard feed, with grass hay sufficing. When in heavier work, he may receive a small amount of Easi Response to support energy levels.
Medical history: Past X-rays are available. He is up to date with vaccinations (May 2025), dental (May 2025) and farrier work. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability: Capable Rider defined as someone who has been riding and competing regularly for at least five years, with independent hands and a balanced seat. Icon would suit:
A capable and confident junior rider (under 18) with support
A young rider (18–24)
An amateur adult or mature rider
Regular professional instruction is recommended to continue his development. He would not suit a nervous or novice rider due to his size and age.
Reason for sale: Offered for sale as part of a breeder’s program, with most horses being routinely marketed.
Ideal home: A loving, knowledgeable home with a capable rider who will continue to develop Icon and appreciate his kind nature, versatility and quality.
