Competed up to Junior Level with previous rider
Introduction: Sweet Dreams FPH, known as ‘Katie’, is an exciting 9-year-old Warmblood mare with quality, presence and a forward-thinking attitude to her work. Standing at 15.3-16hh, she is a powerful and athletic mare in a smaller package. Katie offers scope, blood and responsiveness, making her an ideal partner for a competitive rider looking for a fun and capable showjumping horse. She is currently being competed by PHS and is offered for sale on behalf of her owner.
Education, skills and experience: Katie is well educated and has been produced with showjumping firmly in mind. She is currently in work, competing, and has already recorded wins and placings at state level in 2026. She is a forward-thinking mare who enjoys her job and responds well to correct, confident and regular riding.
Showjumping: Showjumping is Katie’s primary discipline. She is athletic, sharp and responsive, with a naturally forward way of going. She is competitive, careful and quick-thinking, making her a fun and engaging ride for a capable or experienced rider. Katie has the ability to continue progressing through the levels with the right home and rider support. She has previously competed successfully to 120/ Junior level.
General demeanor under saddle: Katie is a forward and sharp mare who is willing and responsive to the aids. She has ‘blood’ and presence and therefore requires a rider who enjoys a more sensitive, athletic type. Katie is light and happy being ridden in a trust innosense snaffle bit. She is more switched on and less reactive when wearing a soundproof bonnet and a whip is carried (it does not need to be used).
Current workload/ fitness: Katie is currently in work and competing. Like most performance horses, she requires regular riding (four or more times weekly) to remain settled, reliable and straightforward. She may benefit from a five minute lunge after a spell.
Handling and general behaviour: Katie is well mannered on the ground and easy to manage however she can give you the ‘mare stare’ which may be off putting for a nervous handler. She loads without hesitation on our truck, travels quietly, stands well on the float and unloads calmly. She is easy to catch, groom, wash, saddle, and is good for the farrier and vet.
Vices or quirks: Katie can be looky in certain situations and may shy away if unsure. This is not dirty behaviour, but she does require a confident, capable rider who can ride her positively and reassure her when needed. She has done a little pigroot when smacked with a whip, is fresh, when doing flying changes or if the rider is unbalanced on landing after a jump - however, this is not malicious or regular. Katie does not buck, bolt or rear.
Feeding and management: Katie is a good doer and is currently fed cracked lupins, chaff and hay. Her management is straightforward but she can get hot when overfed and under worked. She can be stabled and paddocked on a routine or kept in a paddock on her own with other horses in sight. She is sensible around farm machinery, livestock, dogs and other pets.
Medical history: Katie has no past or present medical issues. She is up to date with vaccinations and dental. She is shod on a regular 5-6 week cycle and does not require corrective shoeing. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability: Capable to Experienced Rider defined as someone with extensive riding and competition experience, confident riding forward, sensitive horses and producing performance horses under professional instruction. Katie would suit:
A capable young rider (15–24 years) with support
An experienced amateur adult rider
A competitive home seeking a fun, sharp mare
Reason for sale: Offered for sale as she did not suit her owner and their busy schedule. This is a genuine sale of a horse that is currently in work and competing with PHS.
Ideal home: A competitive showjumping home for someone wanting a fun, athletic and capable horse to enjoy producing and competing. Katie will suit a rider who appreciates a forward, blood-type mare and wants a horse with quality and presence.
