“Des” is an 8yo, approx. 16.1hh OTTB gelding by Written Tycoon x Star Via Strada. EA Registered.

Since finishing racing as ‘Dempster’ approximately 3 years ago, Des has been produced into a genuine, established eventer with a proven competition record.

Des has competed successfully up to 95cm, as well as multiple 80cm placings, and has the ability and scope to continue progressing up the levels.

On the flat, Des relaxes and accepts the contact well once warmed up and has three lovely paces. He has a neat lengthened trot, can leg yield and has started work on shoulder-in, walk-to-canter transitions, and counter-canter.

Naturally forward and brave, Des has significant scope beyond his established competition level. He is capable of producing lovely, consistent clear rounds, and at home he has schooled up to 1.15m.

Cross country is where he shines. Consistently clear and under time. He can get excited out of the start box but settles quickly and locks on to the jumps.

Des thrives on consistency, routine and regular work and is a much happier, more settled horse when he has that structure.

Easy to catch, shoe and float, and will straight or angle load.

Des does have his quirks. He can be spooky or tense in new environments until he has had some time to settle in. He is therefore looking for an experienced, confident rider who understands sensitive horses and can provide the consistency and routine he thrives on.
