The helmet debate is always a great cause for contention amongst horse people, especially western riders. At a recent outing I noticed there were only two riders wearing helmets. I hate the way they wreck my hair and look decidedly un-western, but all it takes is for you to lose your balance from a perfectly safe and quiet horse, which I like to think mine is, and if you land on your head it could be all over. Better to wreck your hair and image than your head! ...
