The Barbury Castle International Horse Trials in the UK this weekend are the last chance for any would-be Olympians to impress the New Zealand eventing selectors. Twelve New Zealand combinations are entered including Mark Todd, Clarke Johnstone, Andrew Nicholson, Jonathan Paget and Lucy Jackson, who will be hoping they’ve already done enough to make that all-important five-strong team for the London Olympics but a strong showing this weekend can cement a place....

The Australian Appaloosa Breeders Association is running a Stallion Service Raffle, where the winner recieves a FREE service to their choice of stallion from the list OR a 50" flat screen TV. The second chance draw winner will receive a half price service to their choice of stallion from the list OR a HD Blu-Ray recorder. FEI Confirms that Dalma Rushdi Malhas will Not Compete at London 2012

Dalma Rushdi Malhas, the Saudi Arabian rider who won individual bronze at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010, will not be competing at London 2012, the FEI confirmed today. The 20-year-old had been aiming to achieve the minimum eligibility standard required for the Olympic Games by the 17 June deadline, but her horse was sidelined by injury and missed a month’s work during the qualifying period....

Saudia Arabia to Let Women Compete at Olympics

Saudi Arabia, where public sports events for women are banned, will allow females to compete in the Olympic Games for the first time. The BBC quoted the Saudi embassy in London as saying its Olympic committee will "oversee participation of women athletes who can qualify". Showjumper, Dalma Rushdi Malhas, didn't qualify for these Olympics, but is keen to work towards competing in future Olympics....

 

Equestrian Official Resigns from Olympics

A top British official has resigned from the committee overseeing the London 2012 equestrian events in a row over public access to pre-Games horse inspections. Hugh Thomas, event director of the Badminton horse trials and a designer of past Olympic courses, told Reuters the decision by organizers not to admit the public was 'disgraceful'....

Black Caviar , the queen of Australian racing, saluted in front of Queen Elizabeth II at Royal Ascot in England on Saturday, adding the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes to her growing list of 22 victories from 22 starts. Jumping well from the outside barrier the undefeated mare settled up on the pace over the testing 1200m course and although punters were given a few anxious moments when jockey Luke Nolen eased up on the world champion sprinter it was job done, her 12th win at Group 1 level....
