In a nail biting finish yesterday Christine Bates and Adelaide Hill rose from sixth to first place to win the Harbour IT Three Star Class at Sydney International Three Day Event. Californian based Kiwi Duncan McFarlane and his lovely big Hanoverian showjumper Mr Whoopy have finished second in the Pfizer $1million grand prix in New York. McFarlane and Andre Thieme (GER) aboard Aragon Rouet were the only two through to the jump-off from the 44 starters. McFarlane threw everything at it and while he notched the fastest time of the two – 1.35 seconds faster – he paid for his speed with two rails. ... New Zealand has won the London 2012 eventing team Olympic qualifier at the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials with Japan seconed and Australia third. The Kiwis had already qualified for London with the bronze medal win at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, so it was second placed Japan who took the spot ahead of the Australians. ...
