Twilight star, Kristen Stewart, has been taking riding lessons in scorching desert heat, to prepare for her role as Snow White in the new movie 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. Apparently 21 year old Kristen plans to bring plenty of action to the role of Snow White and has decided being a competent rider is a must! We like the horse who looks to be an obliging fellow.... Veterinary surgeon Kylie Schaaf, a colleague of Dr Cunneen (who died from the virus in 2008) attended a horse south of Brisbane, which last night tested positive to the deadly virus - she took blood samples from the 30 year old horse at Park Ridge on Monday. The horse is the sixth to die after falling ill in four separate Hendra outbreaks in southeast Queensland and northern NSW in the past two weeks....

Equestrian’s Olympic hopefuls came to Greenwich Park to test the venue ahead of next year’s London 2012 Olympic Games – and what they got delivered was a testing cross country course. Steep hills, through a narrow park, across a short course, proved tough for both the riders and horses, as thousands of spectators lined the heritage park to catch a glimpse of the best in action....
Hendra Virus Case Suspected at Park Ridge

Biosecurity Queensland is managing another suspected case of Hendra virus at Park Ridge in Logan City following the death of a horse overnight. Queensland Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Rick Symons said test results were due today to confirm if Hendra virus was the cause. "There was only one horse on this property, however, there are horses on neighbouring properties so we are currently addressing the need to quarantine properties in the immediate area," Dr Symons said....

In a story that is almost too tragic to be real, eventer Boyd Martin's father, Ross Martin, passed away this weekend. Ross was severely injured in a cycling accident two weeks ago when a truck struck him during a bicycle race. Boyd (who is based in the US and recently lost horses in a terrible barn fire) travelled to Australia and saw his father before he passed away. ...

Another Horse Tests Positive to Hendra

Another horse on a property near Boonah, south-west of Brisbane, has been put down after testing positive for the deadly hendra virus. Queensland Premier Anna Bligh says the horse was tested at the Mount Alford property over the weekend. A horse on the same property tested positive on Friday and was put down, while a horse that died on the property a fortnight ago also had the virus....

The CIC** Greenwich Park Eventing Invitational is under way in the magnificent Greenwich Park in south-east London – venue for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian competitions. A total of 40 athletes from 23 countries are taking part in the Invitational, which offers the normal grading points for an international CIC**, and which involves Dressage today (Monday 4 July), Cross-Country on Tuesday and two rounds of Jumping on Wednesday - in order to reflect the Olympic format. ...
