Hudson is an approx. 9.2hh (will measure), 11 year old Shetland/Small Pony (Unregistered)
Hudson is sadly for sale as we are currently downsizing horse numbers & we don't have a suitable rider for him.
Hudson would probably be best suited to an older child for off-lead riding (or additional training by teen/adult with experience), not toddlers as he is a strong pony. He can be spooky in new situations & can be pushy when nervous.
Having said that, he absolutely loves kids & is very affectionate. He has never shown any nastiness whatsoever & he is happy to be handled/groomed/fussed over/climbed on by the littlies. No kick, bite or threatening behaviour.
He was ridden off-lead by older children with previous owners but we don't have any kids up to that level so we have only done a bit of lead line at home.
Hudson is great to catch most of the time, sometimes he can be a bit cheeky but it never takes long to catch him.
He is great to groom, rug, saddle, worm, vaccinate. He doesn't love baths but tolerates them.
He is a very healthy little pony, his teeth were good at his last veterinary dental. He's up to date with worming & Equivac 2in1.
He has great, hard feet & is good with leg handling & hoof trimming.
He is a fantastic doer, he is NOT prone to laminitis & is super sound. He runs off the smell of an oily rag & is very hardy & low maintenance. He has never been sick or injured since we've owned him or prior to that as far as we know. He has great conformation, straight legs & moves well.
He is very respectful of solid, wire & electric fencing - we have not found him to be a Houdini pony.
He is good to load but has been hesitant in the past - we have not floated him since we bought him home (which he was fine with but did move around under our horse sized dividers).
Hudson can be prone to itch in summer but is well managed with rugging & insect repellent. We have just started rugging him again & he is in paddock condition.
Paddocks well with other ponies & big horses, can sometimes try to be boss horse depending on the personality of his paddock mate/s.
Hudson is a lovable, friendly little fellow who we will miss but it is time for him to find his next family. Home is very important & he would suit someone with horse/pony experience and at least 1 other equine friend on the property for company.
I have tried to put as much information as possible about our little Hudson so he finds the most suitable home but please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
