GC Courante/ Poppy is an absolute delight to ride, handle and compete. Poppy was bred and started by the Harvey family at Patanga Park. She has excelled and progressed beautifully and, with other young horses coming through, presents a wonderful opportunity for a buyer to purchase a young, sound, sane and rideable horse which will succeed at the top levels of the sport. 

Bloodlines: Poppy was undoubtedly bred in the purple - sired by Christian 25. Christian is a tall, athletic, modern model of a show-jumping stallion who has proven to pass on his superb temperament and ride-ability, fantastic movement, conformation, and huge, careful scope to his offspring.

Poppy is out of GC Volante.GC Volante’s her dam is the daughter of Colthaga IMP, who is also the mother of ever popular showjumping stallion, Caracas.

Conformation: Poppy is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse - compact, athletic and refined. Her paces display elasticity, power and activity suitable to progress up the levels.

Education, riding and experience: Poppy is well established on the flat. She has automatic flying changes and laterals, making her rideable, adjustable and competitive on course. 

Poppy is currently competing 120-130. She is willing and responsive as well as competitive against the clock. Poppy is honest, trustworthy, brave and careful around the course and doesn’t stop. 

Poppy is an absolute stable favourite and is regularly ridden by staff as well as the Harvey children. This variety of riders, as well as her natural kind temperament, has made her tolerant of rider mistakes and always aiming to please.

Poppy is currently in work and competing. 

Handling: Poppy is patient and well mannered on the ground to rug, wash, shoe etc. She is very easy to travel in either a float or truck and self loads onto the float. 

Behaviour: Poppy has traveled all over NSW and Victoria. She is happy in big city Royal Show environments as well as being stabled in basic ag show situations with fireworks every night. She travels well - loads and unloads without fuss and eats and drinks well when away from home.  

Poppy is sensible and reliable to ride and handle. She does not have any vices and is not at all ‘marey’. Poppy enjoys socialising with other horses and is fun to have around. 

Feeding and management: Poppy does not have any special feeding or management requirements. Poppy is happy to be stabled, yarded or paddocked on her own or in a herd situation.

Medical history: Poppy does not have any medical issues. She is injury free and issue free. Poppy successfully had a foal and returned to work in January 2024, better than ever, winning Section 3 and Young Horse of the Show at Adelaide Royal in September 2024.

Rider Suitability: Poppy would suit a competitive junior or adult rider who is looking for a straightforward and competitive horse to move up the showjumping levels. She would also suit a professional to bring on through Futurity level, with the aim to compete in World Cup qualifiers in the future.
