A successful on property Haydon Horse Stud sale offering 16 colts held on Saturday 8 October saw top colts go to leading breeders. Top priced colt of the sale, Haydon Orbital, sold for $26,000 to Terry Blake’s Rosebrook Stud, one of the leading studs in Australia. Orbital is by Haydon Nightwatch and has the distinction of having his full brother standing at Stud in the USA. ...

Two British riders, long-time team mates and friends, will do battle for the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2011 top spot this weekend (13-16 October) at Les Etoiles de Pau (FRA), which is also the 2012 season opener. Athletes from 17 nations will compete at the popular CCI4* in the shadow of the Pyrenees, where they have the unique opportunity to secure points for the 2012 season which for the first time includes Australia’s premier event, the Adelaide International Horse Trials (18-20 November). ...

 

Kiwi Eventers Looking to End 2011 Season on a High

Andrew Nicholson (pictured) spear-heads a small but quality Kiwi field to Les Etoiles de Pau, a top ranking international three day event in France this weekend. While it is the final leg in the HSBC FEI Classics – the grand slam of eventing – it is also the first event of 2012 season, and run in the most picturesque surroundings at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains. Mark Todd is sitting in fourth spot on the classics, but isn't competing at Pau. However, Nicholson is well placed to move up the board from his sixth spot, with Caroline Powell in seventh and Jonathan Paget 15th. ...

 

QSEC's First Competition a Winner - Nathan Floats Qld Dressage Championships

On 7 - 10 October the first ever competition, the Nathan Floats Queensland Dressage Championships, was held at the prestigious new Queensland State Equestrian Centre (QSEC) and proved to be the perfect event to kick off QSEC's life as a premiere equestrian venue. Competitors and organisers alike gave the venue a big thumbs up! The stabling and camping area is really well designed, safe and practical, and the indoor and outdoor arena surfaces are fantastic to ride on. All structures - stables and indoor arena - are designed to be beautifully cool in the Queensland heat and all involved with this competition were very positive about QSEC and its future as a top class facility for all types of events. ...
